In anticipation of the upcoming release of ‘Pixels,’ as well as to join in on the worldwide celebration of ‘Pac-Man’s’ 35th anniversary, Sony has released two clips from their upcoming Adam Sandler film, which showcases the awesome power of the Pac. Around the world celebrations will occur to commemorate the longevity of the character, ranging from birthday cakes, parties, free play of the Arcade Game at Dave N Busters, and some nuttier ideas like in Tokyo where are attempting to create the largest human image of Pac-Man (trying to break the Guiness Book of World Records title).

In the first clip (below), Pac-Man’s creator Professor Toru Iwatani tries to reason with his creator, against the wishes of his team, who believe the character will not see reason. Unfortunately for the Professor, he soon realizes that Pac-Man is kind of a jerk.

In the second clip, the remaining members of the Blinky team (see the license plates) attempt to outmaneuver Pac-Man in the streets of New York city, finally trapping him right before the tables are turned, and the hunted becomes the hunter…

Full Synopsis:

“When intergalactic aliens misinterpret video-feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war against them, they attack the Earth, using the games as models for their various assaults. President Will Cooper (Kevin James) has to call on his childhood best friend, ’80s video game champion Sam Brenner (Adam Sandler), now a home theater installer, to lead a team of old-school arcaders (Peter Dinklage & Josh Gad) to defeat the aliens and save the planet. Michelle Monaghan plays the team’s unique weapons specialist.”

Understandably it’s another Sandler movie which doesn’t exactly inspire the most confidence, but the special effects and insane plot might be enough to win audiences over, especially with the use of such classic characters as ‘Pac-Man.’
