Grab your favorite cup of coffee and raise it up high! David Lynch has returned to Showtime’s ‘Twin Peaks’!

A little over 5 weeks ago, Lynch shocked fans when he posted on Facebook that he was no longer attached to the show’s return and walked away because “not enough money was not offered to do the script the way [he] felt it needed it to be done.” The news hit fans and ‘Twin Peak’ actors alike, so much so that a video comprising of the original cast of the series was made to appeal to Showtime to try and find a common ground.

Well, it must have worked as Lynch announced on Twitter that he is now back with the project:

Not only that, confirming the news was Showtime’s President, David Nevins, who said in a statement:

“This damn fine cup of coffee from Mark (Frost) and David (lynch) tastes more delicious than ever, Totally worth the extra brewing time and the cup is even bigger than we expected. David will direct the whole thing which will total more than the originally announced nine hours. Preproduction starts now!!”

That’s right! Not only has Lynch returned, he will be directing the entire series which will total more than the 9 episodes that was originally agreed upon! Unfortunately, how many more episodes is unknown, but the fact that fans will get more to give the serie the needed exposition time for the story to unfold is great news! Soon after the news was announced, Kyle MacLachlan (who will be reprising his role as Agent Dale Cooper) tweeted:

With the scripts already turned in, all that’s left is for ‘Twin Peaks’ to begin production in time for the series to premiere next year on the 25 anniversary of the original show’s last episode.

The announcement that ‘Twin Peaks’ is finally moving forward is not only a win for Lynch but also a win for fans!
