I have to say that one of DC’s more interesting shows I’ve been looking forward to seeing is ‘Lucifer‘ and the first trailer confirms that this is one that’ll be worth checking out. While Fox seems a little unsure about the show and wants the first five episodes to follow the new series of ‘The X-Files,’ I think that with a few more trailers like this, they’ll be able to have their own built in audience in a heartbeat.

Before the trailer, here’s a quick synopsis followed by an introduction to each of the characters that you’ll be seeing in the show.

Bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, the original fallen angel, Lucifer Morningstar has abandoned his throne and retired to L.A., where he owns Lux, an upscale nightclub.

Now the cast! First up in the titular lead role is Tom Ellis as Lucifer!

Next up is Lauren German as Detective Chloe Dancer who is the reason Lucifer gets involved with the police.

While it isn’t clear what Nicholas Gonzalez will be up to as Dan past being on the force with Det. Dancer, I’m sure he’ll be a thorn in Lucifer’s side.

I’m not sure how Rachael Harris’s Kim Martin will play into the series long term, but you can tell right off the bat that she’s going to be providing some comic relief.

What is a fallen angel without an actual angel to try to reign him in and keep him in check? I’m not sure that DB Woodside is up to the task as Amenadiel, but he’ll at the very least be giving the Devil a run for his money.

Lesley-Ann Brandt is another character we don’t know much about but with the name of Maze, I highly suspect we’re seeing another angel here, or perhaps another devil.

Finally Scarlett Estevez looks like she’s going to be rather innocent as Trixie and I wonder if that will have a major bearing on how Lucifer thinks of humanity.

So far so good. However, what will really sell you on the show is the trailer below which really seems like Fox may have a hit on their hands.

What is interesting is that the concept of this paranormal police procedural is how the Devil gets dragged into helping out. Well, this trailer clearly spelled it out and I’ll honestly say they pulled it off a lot better than I thought they would. Simple, straight to the point, and it’ll be something the Devil to spend his time with while avoiding his responsibilities as the ruler of Hell.

If that isn’t enough, we’ve also got the first Inside Look of ‘Lucifer’ where we see Executive Producer Jerry Bruckheimer, Director Len Wiseman and the cast talk about the series:

I think the cast seems like they’ll have some great on screen chemistry and will have a fun way to show us how they are exploring morality and humanity.
