In an announcement that should surprise no one, it looks as if the latest ‘Ant-Man‘ poster reveal also shows that he’ll be joining The Avengers. While I wouldn’t expect him to be on the team by the end of his solo film, I wouldn’t be too surprised to see him pop up in either ‘Captain America: Civil War‘ or ‘Avengers: Infinity War Part 1.’

So how did we find out that Paul Rudd’s character could end up as one of Earth’s Mightest Heroes? Even if we ignored the initial synopsis that reminds us that he is a “a founding member of The Avengers,” at least in the comics, there is a bit of social media that is hinting he’ll be on the team.

First the announcement on Twitter:

Which nearly at the same time, and I suspect by the same author, was the Facebook reveal:

Meet the latest member of the team: #AntMan. Heroes don’t get any bigger, in theaters July 17th.

There’s currently only one team in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe and while I suppose they could all be hinting at The Defenders, I’m pretty sure we’ll see the character of Scott Lang suiting up soon enough. If he does pick a side in the upcoming ‘Captain America: Civil War,’  I almost have to wonder if he’d be lured in by Stark’s smooth talk now that he’s pro-government or Roger’s direct approach now that he’ll be on the other side of the law.

Synopsis:

The next evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man.” Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Doctor Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
