Tom Hiddleston’s portrayal of Loki has earned him scores of fans.  Perhaps realizing the cult following the villain of ‘Thor’ and ‘The Avengers’ has amassed, Marvel has released a new behind-the-scenes featurette for the upcoming sequel, ‘Thor: The Dark World’, which includes footage from the movie as well as interviews with Hiddleston, Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and the movie’s director Alan Taylor.  They each discuss the dynamic between the brothers and where things stand after ‘The Avengers’.  Also featured in the movie footage are some of the other major cast members,  including Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Idris Elba as Heimdal and Jaime Alexander as Lady Sif.

You can watch it for yourself below:

The way Hiddleston describes his character, almost makes you feel sorry for him.  Well almost.

As he stated:

“In the wake of ‘The Avengers’ Loki is lost, struggling to find a place with in the family, struggling to find a place within the universe.  It’s that part of him that Thor appeals to.

Thor is basically bringing him back from the brink.  Re-recruiting him as Thor’s brother and as Thor’s wingman.”

Hemsworth added:

“He’s a villain, but we kind of love him and anytime you can do that, it makes it so much more interesting.”

The ambiguity of the God of Mischief’s role does make things more exciting as you’re never sure which way he’ll go.  (But you’re pretty sure he’s going to end up on the wrong side.)  Together they must try to take on Malekith the Accursed (Christopher Eccleston) and the Dark Elves.  From the looks of things, this movie will feature the cast spending a lot more time on Asgard than Earth.  Asgard, in this film, looks a bit more realistic than it did in the first movie, which makes sense because Taylor was formerly a director on the gritty ‘Game of Thrones’.

‘Thor: The Dark World’ is less than a month away and arrives in theaters on November 8th.
