It isn’t every day that you can get me excited about a remake but with the names attached to a new take on ‘The Entity’ it would be a lie to say I wasn’t curious to find out more. There are few names that I’m almost always interested in when it comes to horror as of late but with James Wan (‘Saw,’ ‘Insidious’) and Roy Lee (‘The Departed,’ ‘The Lego Movie’) set to produce this remake of a 1980s classic, I can’t help but want to see what the’ll put together. Now throw in Chad and Carey Hayes who were responsible for ‘The Conjuring‘ and ‘The Reaping’ to write the film and I suspect we’ll have a fun watch on our hands.
We already know that Wan and the Hayes have worked amazingly well together with their success in ‘The Conjuring.’ As they’ll be working in the same setup for ‘The Entity’ and the fact that it is also based on a true story, it seems that we’ll be hopefully getting the same kind of thematic piece that drew critical acclaim to the last film.
In ‘The Entity’ we’ll be following Carla Moran who is a single mother that was abused physically and sexually by a demon. To make things worse, her doctor believes she is abusing herself and is having massive problems dealing with her traumatic past. Throw in a son, a boyfriend, and two parapsychologists and we’ve got a nice cast put together that in ways can be likened to the setup in ‘The Conjuring.’
There is no word if Wan will be working on directing this film after he tackles ‘The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist’ or if another director will be attached to the movie. I’m hoping to see him return to directing even more horror films but only time will tell.
