Playstation is making a powerful case for why people should tune in for their first original series, from a dark and gritty comic source that inspired the series, to the money spent on the show and its special effects, and now through the promotional campaign leading up to ‘Powers‘” premiere next month. And the tagline “From the studio that brought you ‘Breaking Bad,’ is not hurting them either.

Below is a synopsis of the series, followed by an inside look released by the studio, which also includes some previews from the actual show itself, showing off a lot of never before seen footage. It seems Sony is definitely keeping the edgier tone of the comics, and the actors they’ve cast really seem to be hitting the mark, especially Sharlto Copley as Christan Walker and Susan Heyward as Deena Pilgrim. What’s also interesting about ‘Powers’ is that while it comes from Marvel’s ‘Icon’  imprint, it is not actually part of the Marvel Universe, which means its free from having to maintain continuity with anyone else, and can just exist on its own.

“Powers, an edgy dramatic series, follows the lives of two homicide detectives, Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim, who are assigned to investigate cases involving people with superhuman abilities, referred to as “Powers.” Set amidst today’s paparazzi culture, Powers asks the questions, what if the world was full of superheroes who aren’t actually heroic at all? What if all that power was just one more excuse for mischief, mayhem, murder, and endorsement deals?

Enter the men and women of the Powers Division, the brave people in charge of protecting humans like us and keeping the peace over commercialized, god-like men and women who glide through the sky imposing their power over the mortals who both worship and fear them.”

Look for ‘Powers’ to hit the Playstation Network on March 10th with a 3 episode premiere, followed by a new episode each week after that.
