After James Gunn’s surprise hit last summer, there was some speculation that ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ would be receiving the animated treatment. At New York Comic Con, it was confirmed that Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket, and Groot would be heading to Disney XD to star in their very own show and now it looks like we know who will be voicing three of the five members of the team.

According to Disney Channel’s official Twitter account, it was announced that Will Friedle would play Peter Quill in the upcoming ‘Guardians’ animated series. Alongside the ‘Boy Meets World’ (and soon to be ‘Girl Meets World’) star will be Kevin Michael Richardson as Groot, Trevor Devall as Rocket Raccoon, and David Sobolov as Drax the Destroyer. You can get a sneak peek at what these characters will sound like when the show debuts next year thanks to the following videos:

Though Friedle is primarily known for playing the lovable Eric Matthews and the infamous Feeney Call, the actor has lent his voice to a number of characters since his days at John Adams High with Corey and Topanga. In fact, his voice may already be familiar to many fans of both Marvel and DC. Friedle plays Deadpool in ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’, but he also voiced Terry McGinnis is ‘Batman Beyond’, Blue Beetle in ‘Batman: The Brave and the Bold’, and Green Arrow in some DC animated shorts.

Richardson’s deep, sultry voice may be familiar as well since he has quite the expansive voiceover resume as well. Besides being the voice of iconic character Barney Rubble in recent ‘Flintstones’ films such as ‘The Flintstones & WWE: Stone Age Smackdown’, he has appeared on popular shows like ‘The Cleveland Show’, ‘Young Justice’, ‘Green Lantern: The Animated Series’, ‘Wolverine and the X-Men’, and many others. Plus, he already has experience playing the Guardians’ resident houseplant/muscle since he provides the voice of Groot in ‘Avengers Assemble’, ‘Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.’, and the video game ‘Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes’.

Devall is another one to have a history with Marvel. After playing Pyro in ‘X-Men: Evolution’ in 2001, he went on to voice the Living Laser in ‘Iron Man: Armored Adventures’ and Steve Rogers in ‘Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk’. Additionally, like his fellow castmate Richardson, Devall has previously played his ‘Guardians’ character, except this time it was on ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’.

Finally, Sobolov has been voicing Drax since 2013’s ‘Marvel Heroes’ video game. Since then, he’s played the character in ‘Lego Marvel Super Heroes’, ‘Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.’, ‘Avengers Assemble’, ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’, and ‘Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes’. Since he’s appearing in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ on Disney XD, Sobolov has spent the most time voicing his character out of the whole cast so far.

Now all that’s left is for Marvel to announce who will play Gamora. At this rate, we’re likely to discover who shall take up the mantle of the Deadliest Woman In The Galaxy before the end of the week. But until then, what do you think about the first names to join Disney XD’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’? Let us know in the comments below.
