Sources confirm that Gina Carano will be joining Ryan Reynolds onscreen when ‘Deadpool’ hits theaters. She will be on-screen playing a character named “Angel Dust,” who in the comics was part of the underground sewer dwelling mutants known as the Morlocks. Seeing as how ‘Deadpool‘ will take place in the same cinematic universe as the ‘X-men’ films (who have historically dealt with the Morlocks more than any other group in Marvel comics), it makes sense they would pull a character from the disenfranchised group, but what exactly that means for the plot of the movie is unkown. Will Deadpool be visiting the Morlocks in the film? Or is Angel Dust just a name they pulled from the comics to give Reynold’s a super-powered female character to match wits against. We’ll just have to wait and see, as few if any plot details have leaked about the movie. All the information we have so far is about the actors, including T.J. Miller though we still don’t know for sure what his role is going to be, the director Tim Miller, and the producer Lauren Shuler Donner. Oh, and we also know that they are hoping to start shooting in March in Vancouver.

Notably, there is another tidbit of information about the movie recently disclosed, which speaks about the involvement of the Russian fan-favorite X-man Colossus, who is rumored to make an appearance in the movie. Whether or not it will be Daniel Cudmore returning to the role is yet to be determined, but if they are trying to maintain continuity, it would make sense to see the man play Colossus once again.

As for Gina Carano, before she joins the cast of ‘Deadpool,’ she is first wrapping up an action/adventure spy thriller alongside Bruce Willis with the title ‘Extraction,’ which is hopefully where she can cut her teeth at more of the intense action work she’s all too likely to experience on ‘Deadpool.’ (To be fair, her film resume does include some notable actions roles already, including ‘Fast and Furious 6’ and her role in the TV series ‘Almost Human.’) The fact that she will be holding her own alongside vet Bruce Willis should give fans confidence in her ability to keep up with Reynolds when she joins the film.
