Get ready for the second chapter in the movie adaptations of Veronica Roth’s popular YA novel series, as ‘The Divergent Series: Insurgent’ is due in theaters on March 20th, 2015. At the end of the last film, Tris’ fellow Dauntless allies were brainwashed and sent to conquer the passive Abnegation tribe, the faction that Tris was born and raised as a member of. Tris herself and her love interest Four were unaffected because as it turns out they are both Divergent, meaning they possess traits from each of their society’s branches.
Now Tris and Four are on the run from Jeanine, the leader of the Erudite, as they hunt for clues about their world’s past (and by their world, I mean… Chicago) which will helpfully help free their society from its rigid caste system.
The book series has a devoted following and the first movie made over $150 million. ‘The Divergent Series: Insurgent’ should demand at least that, since it’s opening almost one year exactly after the first one and should benefit from sliding into theaters before the summer season really heats up.
But in case you needed additional convincing, a new trailer entitled “Fight Back” has been released. Check it out below:
‘The Divergent Series: Insurgent’ is directed by Robert Schwentke and stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Kate Winslet, Octavia Spencer, Miles Teller, Jai Courtney, Naomi Watts, Jonny Weston, Ansel Elgort, Zoe Kravitz, Maggie Q, Suki Waterhouse and Ashley Judd. The film will open in theaters on March 2oth, 2015.
