2K Games and Gearbox Software  has announced that both ‘Borderlands 2’ and ‘Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel’ will be heading on to PS4 and Xbox One in the form of ‘Borderlands’ The Handsome Collection’.

Both previous console generation ‘Borderlands’ games will be receiving HD remastered graphics, alongside some added features. For one, they will support cross-save functionality. So gamers who have played the game previously on any of its released platforms will be able to continue exactly where they left off. Secondly, the new versions of the game will now support four player split-screen on a single monitor. Lastly, all DLC released for each of the games will be included in the collection.

“’Borderlands: The Handsome Collection’ gives players the opportunity to experience the full arc of Handsome Jack’s rise and fall, from his not-so-humble beginnings on Elpis to becoming the tyrannical Hyperion CEO on Pandora,” said 2K president Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “This collection marks the ‘Borderlands’ franchise’s official move to the next-gen platforms, and we’re proud to offer our fans the ability to continue playing with the characters they’ve built as they carry on adventuring in ‘Borderlands: The Handsome Collection’.”

To commemorate the release of ‘Borderlands: The Handsome Collection’, Gearbox Software will also be offering a special edition of the game called the Claptrap-in-a-Box Edition for $399.99. It will include not only the game but a remote controlled Claptrap steward robot, a collectible steel book case and 12 exclusive lithographs as well.

The Claptrap robot will be controlled via smartphone app for iOS and Android. Using gyro technology, it rolls around on one wheel. On top of this, it can say lines from the game and even live stream video to a mobile device through its eye.

Those interested in the Claptrap-in-a-Box Edition should definitely jump on it soon since there are only about 5,000 units available worldwide.

‘Borderlands: The Handsome Collection’ will release on PS4 and Xbox One on March 24.
