‘Star Wars Rebels’ just stepped up its game. Not only are they bringing in everyone’s favorite Jedi Master to lend support and guidance to Kanan in an upcoming episode of the hit Disney XD series, but they went all the way with the idea, getting the original voice-actor, Frank Oz, to come back and perform the beloved character on the show. And while the man who portrayed Yoda during ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars,’ actor Tom Kane, did a fine job, one could instantly tell the difference when Frank Oz inhabits the role, and for me, it brought back a wave of ‘Star Wars’ nostalgia to hear Oz do the voice, and to have John Williams’ original Yoda theme playing during the scene.

Even if its only for a handful of minutes, ‘Rebels’ did a great job of bringing us back to our original love of ‘Star Wars,’ and I hope this is not the last time we see Yoda during ‘Star Wars Rebels.’ Why you might ask? Well aside from my own enjoyment of the character, there is also the fact that if we don’t see Yoda in ‘Star Wars Rebels’ we might not ever get to see him again, as it has been announced that the next Disney/Star Wars show will be set during the era of the sequel trilogy (which will start with J.J. Abrams’ ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens,’) and as everyone should remember from ‘Star Wars: Return of the Jedi,’ Yoda died during the final film of the original trilogy, and there is little chance of him making an appearance as anything but a ghost in future films (and even that seems unlikely).

So fans, enjoy the clip below, and make sure you tune in for the episode titled ‘The Path of the Jedi’ which will air on Disney XD on January 4th.!
