Recently in ‘Avengers & X-Men: AXIS’ we discovered that The Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver were actually not Magneto’s children. The latest teasers for the upcoming ‘Uncanny Avengers’ run has the siblings reflecting on that very thought as Rick Remender writes Quicksilver into joining his sister on the ‘Uncanny Avengers’ team. Pietro and Wanda were first shown to be the Master of Magnetism’s kids when they were introduced in ‘The X-Men’ #4 way back in 1964 and that held true until 1974’s ‘Giant-Size Avengers’ #1 when we found out that they were actually the children of the Whizzer This story lasted until 1979’s “Yesterday’s Quest” tale which put them back to being the mutant children of Magneto. That is until the just completed AXIS event.

As Pietro asks “What if one day you woke to discover your entire life was a lie?” and Wanda following that up by stating “You can’t know how liberating it is to know there is no blood connection between us.” you would rightfully assume that this is just dealing with no longer having to acknowledge any relation to Magneto. We won’t know the full details of what is going on most likely until the book’s release in January of 2015. Rumors also place the mutant legacy of these two in question as they may somehow now be revealed to be Inhuman and not Mutant.

The retcon that would be involved to pull that off just makes my head hurt but would be something that might be fitting in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe leading towards their true on screen introduction in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron.’

Now, the art on these promos gives us what appear to be two styles that simply do not match each other as well as new outfits for the two that look, rather, unpleasant to the eye. It makes me feel as if we haven’t really been given an actual idea of what to expect from the book quite yet.

The series will follow a team of Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Vision, Brother Voodoo, Rogue, Captain America, and Sabertooth as they are doing something on “Counter-Earth” (which is another alternate Marvel reality). We currently have no knowledge on why the team has been transported there or what has brought them together but I’m sure we’ll be finding out more from these unlikely team of heroes as more teasers are announced from the rest of the team. While there isn’t a lot of details quite yet: Scarlet Witch, Brother Voodoo, Rogue, Captain America, and Sabertooth were all characters that were directly changed by the AXIS conflict so it makes me wonder if that could have any tie in to what is going on here.
