When the reboot of ‘The Crow’ was initially announced we had F. Javier Gutiérrez attached to direct and while he’s since moved on from the project, there is a new director helming the movie. While Gutiérrez was interested in the film his time was briefly cut short as he has now moved on to taking over the reboot of ‘The Ring‘ franchise for Paramount. So now we’ll be seeing Corin Hardy taking point on the film.

Not familiar with the name? Perfectly understandable as it isn’t one that would be on the tip of almost anyone’s tongue quite yet.

Hardy is known in some directing circles in the music industry and is currently filming his directorial debut in a horror movie called ‘The Hallow.’ The movie takes place in a remote area of Ireland where a family who recently moved to the area has to deal with demonic creatures. Yes, Hardy is a horror fan and has often used a darker feel and a lot of the same style of special effects in his music videos.

While some could easily see this as a reboot of the 1994 Brandon Lee starring vehicle, the writers actually are going a different route. While the movie holds a special place in the hearts of many, it isn’t going to be rebooting the first movie. The writers are working with original comic creator James O’Barr to properly bring his series to the big screen. Quite a few aspects of the film had been changed from the source material and they are going to make the newer movie darker and truer to the story.
