2ND UPDATE : StarWars.com has released a full list of the 30 theaters that will be showing the 88 second trailer. See below for the full list!

UPDATE: J.J. Abrams’ production company Bad Robot has confirmed the announcement of the trailer to be in select theaters on Friday! Read on to find out which theaters the trailer will be playing!

Early rumors had the teaser trailer for ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ being attached to the world premiere of ‘The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies‘ but while that was debunked there seems to be a new premiere date for it. ‘Star Wars’ fans everywhere have been dying to see the actual trailer for the film and while I’m sure the teaser won’t give us much it, is sure to tease the hell out of the film for us.

So what are Disney’s “bigger plans” on getting the trailer out to the masses? Well it will apparently be this week as the fine folks over at Slash Film have independently heard from their reliable source on the matter. He, She, or It let them know that it would be shown during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend which always has high showings for film buffs and would be a key spot to show the preview off. They claim it will be shown in a limited number of theaters.

They follow that up with a rumor that showed up on Reddit claiming not only that the teaser trailer would be a minute and a half long but would debut in 100 theaters which easily falls into the limited number. Only it expands on the view that it would be in front of the showtime of every single movie that they show for the day.

The rumor is followed up that they will have to also be showing an early showtime of Disney’s ‘Big Hero 6’ for each day of the weekend which is one of the sweet spots for moviegoers. While the Reddit portion would seem to be knee deep in rumor on its own, combined with their inside source this could help show exactly how the deal was struck. Of course, this post also claims a 90 second trailer while early reports had it clocking in at exactly the one minute mark.

While I can’t tell you the exact time of the trailer I can tell you that this has been confirmed as at this time at the very least Regal Cinema has announced 9 of its theaters that will be showing the trailer before every one of its films on thanksgiving weekend!

Now I know that 9 theaters isn’t a lot (and far short from the rumored 100) but this is just for Regal and you’ll have to expect more announcements coming soon, most likely with the lion’s share being hosted by AMC.

Now, Regal has since taken down the posting which appears to have gone live a little early but at least they’ve got some humor in the placeholder message:

I’m hoping at least one of the local theaters that AMC has close to me will be playing it and sadly the only Regal near me is not on the above list. Still, we’ll find out more soon!
