As a very enthusiastic elf once said, the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear. That’s why you often see musicals released in theaters around that time of year. In 2012, we saw the release of ‘Les Miserables’ starring Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, and Russell Crowe. Then in 2013, the ‘Frozen’ phenomenon began. Now, Disney returns to the box office this year by adapting the iconic fairy tale crossover musical from Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine, ‘Into The Woods.’

Featuring a star-studded cast that includes Johnny Depp, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, and Meryl Streep, the story is centered on a childless couple that set out to end the curse put upon them by a vengeful witch. Their mission takes the Baker and his Wife on a journey that finds them crossing paths with some of the most recognizable figures from children’s stories such as ‘Little Red Riding Hood’, ‘Rapunzel’, ‘Cinderella’, and ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. But before you follow them into the woods and through the trees this Christmas, you can check out the first clip from the film right here courtesy of Vanity Fair:

And if that weren’t enough of a taste, Comic Book Movie has over ten minutes of b-roll from the adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical that gives us a sneak peek into classic songs such as ‘Agony’, ‘Giants In The Sky’, and ‘Stay With Me’:

What do you think about the upcoming adaptation of ‘Into The Woods’? Will you be catching the film from veteran filmmaker Rob Marshall and Disney this holiday season? Let us know in the comments!
