No one does fairy tales like Disney and this Christmas, the studio is tackling several of them in one movie. ‘Into The Woods’ is an adaptation of the popular stage production, which weaves the stories of Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood and Rapunzel together in a new tale.

The movie is directed by Rob Marshall (‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’, ‘Chicago’) and features a star-studded cast headlined by Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Emily Blunt, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine and Christine Baranski.

Streep plays the Witch who grants the various fable characters their heart’s desire, but these wishes come with a price as they individually discover.  Added to the mix are James Corden (from the hit British sitcom ‘Gavin and Stacey’) and Kendrick as the Baker and his wife, who are yearning for a child, but as a result find themselves intertwined with these famous characters and their legendary tales.

In case you haven’t been to a department store in the last week or two, Christmas is basically HERE NOW!!!  Okay, so  we actually have seven weeks to go.  But once you’re done shopping, baking, wrapping, eating and spending the requisite once-a-year day with the extended family, maybe head out and catch some peace with this sure-to-be fanciful movie experience?

To prime you, here is the newest trailer for the film:

As a bonus, here are the various character posters that highlight the main cast

The original stage production was based on the book by James Lapine, who helped with adapting the story to film, and featured songs and music by the legendary Stephen Sondheim (‘West Side Story’, ‘Gypsy’).

Not only should this be quite the spectacle, but because it’s by Disney, it’s fun for the whole family.  What do you think?  Will you be heading out to the theater after all the holiday festivities?
