Microsoft has released a brand new trailer for the live-action digital series based on the ‘Halo’ universe entitled ‘Halo: Nightfall.’

‘Halo: Nightfall’ takes place in-between ‘Halo 4’ and the upcoming Xbox One title ‘Halo 5: Guardians.’ It follows the origin story of the legendary manhunter Agent Jameson Locke (Mike Colter) and his unit as they get caught up in a terrorist attack while investigating terrorist activity in the distant colony of Sedra. During their mission, Locke and his unit must work together with a Sedran commander named Randall Aiken (Steve Waddington) who harbors only distrust for them. As the plot pushes further, the group is drawn to an ancient artifact that forces them to fight for their survival while having to desperately choose between their own personal loyalties and their lives.

The five-episode digital series is directed by Sergio Mimica-Gezzan, best known for his directorial work on a variety of TV series such as ‘Prison Break,’ ‘The Pillars of Earth’ and ”Battlestar Galactica.’ Alongside him is ‘Prison Break’ creator Paul Scheuring, who has provided the show’s script. Ridley Scott and David Zucker are serving as executive producers for the project as well.

Various plot details that will appear in ‘Halo: Nightfall’ will also have narrative connections to the upcoming ‘Halo’ TV series executive produced by Stephen Spielberg.

Alongside the famous Master Chief, Agent Locke is set to be the other  primary playable character in ‘Halo 5: Guardians’ developed by 343 Studios. For those who have seen the promotional teaser artwork for the game, Locke is actually the armored Spartan pictured on top.

‘Halo: Nightfall’ will be included on ‘Halo: The Master Chief Collection’ which will release for Xbox One on November 11. It will also be available to watch via the Halo Channel for Xbox One and Windows 8 devices on the same day as well.
