We’ve recently had a chance to see the ‘Suicide Squad‘ show up on ‘Arrow‘ and now it seems that DC Entertainment liked the concept so much that they are developing a movie based off the property. The criminal turned hero idea is one that both DC Entertainment and Marvel have firmly used between the ‘Suicide Squad’ and the ‘Thunderbolts,’ but DC Entertainment has gone one step further than just having them appear in comic books. Their villains-turned-heroes team have been seen in animated movies such as ‘Assault on Arkham’ as well as on the small screen. Now they’ll be getting their own movie adaptation.
Early reports have writer and director David Ayer helming the film but now a rumor has which villains will be turned into heroes and there will be seven of them to boot.
So who will be forced to becoming a hero at the government’s beck and call? Well, two of the ex-villains are ones that fans will recognize and they are Floyd Lawton a.k.a. Deadshot and George ‘Digger’ Harkness a.k.a. Captain Boomerang which have both been in the comics over the years with Deadshot most recently in ‘Arrow’ as well.
Third up on the list? Well Mari Jiwe McCabe or Vixen will be on board. Vixen is formally a member of the Justice League and might be a strange fit if you didn’t know she had previously joined the Squad to use their help to track down her own target.
While these three are the main characters on the team, we will also see Blockbuster, who is a fighter, Mindboggler, who is a punk rock telepath, Jaculi, who much like the Flash has superspeed and starts off as an enemy of the Squad, and finally Multiplex, who is able to produce clones of himself (fans will also be seeing a version of him on The CW series ‘The Flash’).
This seems like the perfect action packed lead in for lower-budget films that could fit into the greater DC Entertainment Cinematic Universe.
What do you think of the villains included in the line up? Are you disappointed to not see Harley Quinn included? Share your thoughts below!
