I’m not even sure what to say to my fellow ‘Twin Peaks‘ fans but ask how awesome is this news! ‘Twin Peaks’ is going to be continued in 2016! We’re not returning to a full set of seasons or even a multi-season deal but what we are getting, at the very least, is a nine-episode limited run that is set to premiere in 2016! That’s right ladies and gentlemen! The classic show created by David Lynch and Mark Frost is getting nine new episodes to deliver more of the madness that is set in modern day times!

That being said, you shouldn’t get too excited as there is no confirmation on whether any of the original cast members are set to return. Will we be getting character recasting? All new characters set in the same bizarre world? We just don’t have those details yet.

What we do know is what president of Showtime NetworksDavid Nevins has said:

“What more can I say — Twin Peaks with David Lynch and Mark Frost on Showtime in 2016! To quote Agent Cooper, ‘I have no idea where this will lead us, but I have a definite feeling it will be a place both wonderful and strange.'”

Lynch and Frost also released a statement that read “The mysterious and special world of Twin Peaks is pulling us back. We’re very excited. May the forest be with you.” which sounds a lot better than the last time Frost mentioned this being a “baseless rumor” when a new show was brought up back in January of this year.

Oh yes, We also know that it is set in modern times and 25 years after the original show! Check out the teaser for the return followed by a synopsis:

The groundbreaking television phenomenon, Golden Globe® and Peabody Award-winner TWIN PEAKS will return as a new limited series on SHOWTIME in 2016. Series creators and executive producers David Lynch and Mark Frost will write and produce all nine episodes of the limited series, and Lynch will direct every episode. Set in the present day, TWIN PEAKS will continue the lore of the original series, providing long-awaited answers and a satisfying conclusion for the series’ passionate fan base.

Lynch and Frost also tweeted the following which really makes for some #damngoodcoffee if you ask me!

I am so excited I can’t even contain myself!

Are you going to be checking out ‘Twin Peaks’ when it returns in 2016? Which questions do you want answers to and what do you think they’ll still leave up in the air?
