‘Big Hero 6’ focuses on Hiro (Ryan Potter) and his healing robot Baymax (Scott Adsit), and thus far, the ads for the movie have showcased those two characters. But the movie is about a team of fledgling super heroes in the fictional city of San Fansokyo, a mashup of San Francisco and Tokyo. The rest of the team consists of Go Go Tomago (Jamie Chung), Honey Lemon (Genesis Rodriguez), Wasabi (Damon Wayans Jr.) and Fred (T.J. Miller). The movie is based on a slightly obscure Marvel comic book, but has been heavily altered for the Disney movie.
With all the heart and humor audiences expect from Walt Disney Animation Studios, ‘Big Hero 6’ is an action-packed comedy-adventure about robotics prodigy Hiro Hamada, who learns to harness his genius—thanks to his brilliant brother Tadashi and their like-minded friends: adrenaline junkie Go Go Tamago, neatnik Wasabi, chemistry whiz Honey Lemon and fanboy Fred. When a devastating turn of events catapults them into the midst of a dangerous plot unfolding in the streets of San Fransokyo, Hiro turns to his closest companion—a robot named Baymax—and transforms the group into a band of high-tech heroes determined to solve the mystery.
As the movie approaches its November 7th release date, more and more promotional material is being released. In this next clip, we get to see a bit more of the rest of the team, whereas earlier clips have mainly Hiro and Baymax. (Not much, but a little.) You can watch the newest trailer below:
While the movie deviates from the comic, it seems infused with all the heart of most Disney movies. Even the theme song used is stirring. (Could it be the new ‘Let It Go’?) Is mashing up Disney and Marvel going to be the key to monster success?
