In the third season of ‘Arrow’ we have yet another villain for Oliver Quinn to fight and this time it is the archer Komodo! It was just announced that Matt Ward (‘TRON: Legacy’, ‘Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem’) has joined the cast to play Sam Lacroix. Lacroix is more known to DC Comic fans as the archer Komodo. Currently he is slated to appear in the second episode of the third season and for those wondering how he’ll be on the show he is described as “a deadly mercenary using the code name Komodo, who wreaks havoc in Starling City.”

As Ra’s al Ghul from Batman fame will be the central villain in the third season they will still be following the villain-of-the-week formula that has worked so well for the show to date. However, while they will still be using the formula it will be altered a bit to tie into a season-long story line. We know at the very least that Count Vertigo will be among these weekly villains. Will this rogue gallery all be tied to Ra’s al Ghul? Perhaps they are working for him or the League of Assassins?

Executive producer Marc Guggenheim stressed that “Yes, he’s the villain-of-the-week for the second week of the show, but you’ll see that Team Arrow’s pursuit of him is part and parcel of a season-long storyline. You’re going to know what happens to Komodo at the end of the episode, but it will be a little bit tied in better with the season-long mythology than villain-of-the week episodes have done in the past.” I’m suspecting he is sent to test our hero in some manner though I doubt we’ll know that much until the episode premieres.

Are you looking forward to Oliver putting up his bow against Komodo to see who really is the best shot? What is your theory on how he’ll play into the larger story that they are hinting at? Share your thoughts below!

‘Arrow’ starring Stephen Amell, David Ramsey, Emily Bett Rickards, Katie Cassidy, Colton Hayes, Caity Lotz, Willa Holland, and John Barrowman returns to The CW on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at 8:00pm.
