From the moment that Disney acquired Marvel Comics, fans knew that it would only be a matter of time before we finally got to see the iconic superheroes in the company’s popular theme parks. Iron Man was the first one to make his presence felt as Tony Stark’s Hall of Armor was presented in Disneyland. Since then, he was joined by appearances by Captain America and Thor in the flesh for meet and greets with guests. And recently it was announced that Hiro Hamada and Baymax of ‘Big Hero 6’ would be the first Marvel characters to appear in both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. So who will be the next visitors to Disney parks on both coasts from the Marvel Universe? Apparently, the stars of Marvel Studios’ latest box office smash ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ could be a possibility.

Since Marvel heroes began appearing in Disneyland, it has been widely established that the company has agreed not to utilize certain characters at their Florida parks due to an agreement between Marvel and Universal Studios Orlando that saw Spider-Man, Captain America, the X-Men, and many others appear at Islands of Adventure. However, Inside The Magic notes that this arrangement doesn’t apply to characters that don’t already appear at the theme park, which means that Big Hero 6 and the Guardians of the Galaxy fall outside the legal restrictions that keep Marvel characters from being added to the Disney World parks.

Previously, Star-Lord and company temporarily replaced ‘Captain EO’ to provide an exclusive 3D experience from the recent Marvel film at Disneyland and Disney World. But now that the movie is a hit, it could be possible that Disney Imagineers are devising a plan to make Groot, Rocket, Gamora, Drax, and/or Peter Quill the next set of characters from the House of Ideas to set up shop in the Happiest Place On Earth. And if this report were correct, then it would still honor the pre-existing contract with the Sunshine State’s competing vacation destination.

If the cast of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ are indeed cleared to make appearances in Walt Disney World, which characters would you be most excited to meet? Would you rather hug Rocket and Groot, or swoon over Star-Lord, Gamora, and Drax? Let us know in the comments.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ starring Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, and Bradley Cooper is in theaters now.
