Genre goddess Lucy Lawless, better known as ‘Xena, Warrior Princess‘ has also turned in memorable performances on ‘Spartacus’ and ‘Battlestar Galactica’.  Now she’s set to turn in another fan-pleasing role on ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ ABC TV’s tie-in to Marvel’s Cinematic Universe.

With Comic Con a week away, nothing has been revealed about her role, but come Friday, expect that to be rectified.  It hasn’t even been announced how large a role she will play or how many episodes she will appear in, but Lawless is kind of a big name, so I would expect her to play a fairly large role.

In fact… we have Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Dum Dum Dugan (Neal McDonough), Gabe Jones (Derek Luke), Jim Morita (Kenneth Choi) and Jasper Sitwell (Maximilliano Hernandez).  Why, the only major S.H.I.E.L.D. agent that hasn’t been adapted to the Cinematic Universe yet is…

La Contessa Valentina de la Fontaine, Nick Fury’s major love interest through much of his existence and a formidable secret agent on her own.  She also had a dalliance with Captain America for a time, a character that is currently not romantically involved in the movies.

So will Lucy Lawless be bleaching a blonde streak in her hair?

The character of “Val” has previously been depicted by Lisa Rinna on the made for TV movie starring David Hasselhoff as Nick Fury.

Yep, that was a thing.

However, this is just my speculation.  There’s one other major role that Lawless could take on.

Viper, or Madame Hydra, the infamous super villain.  The character was adapted to live action in ‘The Wolverine’ but does her inclusion in the mutant-verse mean she can’t appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe proper?

What do you think?  Who do you think Lucy Lawless will be playing?
