We already knew Stephen Amell‘s character Oliver Queen a.k.a.The Arrow would be putting in a cursory guest appearance on the series premier of spin-off ‘The Flash’, but don’t expect the Central City/Starling City connection to end there. Producer Andrew Kreisberg stated “Episodes 8 of both shows, Arrow and Flash, are going to be a two-hour crossover event. [Also], in Episode 4, Felicity [Emily Bett Rickards] is going to come to The Flash.”
It was previously revealed that Robbie Amell had been cast as Ronnie Raymond, who in the comics is one half of Firestorm. Kreisberg stated that the other half, Martin Stein will show up later, but was originally intended to appear in the pilot.
In additional ‘Flash’ news, ‘Prison Break’ alum Wentworth Miller has been cast to play Leonard Snart, better known as Captain Cold. Executive producer Greg Berlanti expressed, “We’ll be seeing his origin [story] and the origin of the Rogues.” (One of the Rogues, Weather Wizard, appears in the pilot.)
In the comics, Captain Cold is a parka-wearing villain with a freeze gun. For a period, the gun became part of him, so that he had inherent ice abilities, but that was recently undone. It should be noted that Danielle Panabaker is playing Caitlin Snow on ‘The Flash’. In the comics, Snow becomes the villain Killer Frost, a Firestorm villain who also has freezing powers.
Miller has some previous DC experience, voicing Deathstroke/Slade Wilson on ‘Young Justice’.
Back to Firestorm, it sounds like “The Nuclear Man” will definitely make an appearance on ‘The Flash’. Berlanti said, “Between [Arrow and Flash], we’ll have half the Justice League on our two shows this year.”
Well, maybe not half. He was probably referring to the classic JL lineup, commonly referred to as “The Satellite Years.” So far on ‘Arrow’, we’ve gotten Green Arrow, obviously, plus Black Canary, The Huntress and Bronze Tiger (who participated in some stories as part of Justice League Task Force). Now we have ‘The Flash’ with Firestorm in the works. And Cisco Ramon is part of the cast and in the comics, he is the hero Vibe. And with S.T.A.R. labs involved, could Cyborg be far behind? How long until we see Silver Sorceress and Aztek? (Yes, that was shade.)
What other heroes do you think will crop up on these two shows? Which heroes should appear on which show?
