As Farnsworth would say, “Good News Everyone!” ‘Futurama‘ is coming back to the air! Sadly, it is only for one episode and a crossover episode with ‘The Simpsons‘ at that. Thankfully with Matt Groening and David X. Cohen behind the wheel, they are able to bring back the crew of Planet Express for another adventure. We found out about the episode when “Simpsons” producer Al Jean teased a little information at a panel during the Television Critics Association.

While we don’t know a lot about the episode, we do know that it will air this November and that we’re getting  the full cast from the animated science fiction show that network television loves to cancel. That means a return from the show’s original voice actors comprised of Billy West, John DiMaggio, Katey Sagal, Maurice LaMarche, Phil LaMarr, Lauren Tom, and Tress MacNeille.

Doing some digging, there was a rumor last year that such a crossover might happen where Bender has to travel back in time to kill Bart for doing something that really messes up the future. It could easily be made into a rif on ‘The Terminator’ if that is the planned episode. Although, quite a bit of time has passed since that original comment by Jean had surfaced.

The show was last cancelled last September on Comedy Central and no network has wanted to pick it up for another season. All of the networks who have passed on the show can bite my shiny metal… ahem… What I mean to say is you would think with SyFy’s renewed love of science fiction that they may have wanted to make an offer with all of the new shows they are throwing out on the network these days. With a built in fan base and at the right time slot, this might be a great fit. Honestly ‘Futurama’ could be one of the smartest and funniest pieces of science fiction on television, so it’s sad that it can’t find a home to give us another season.

Are you looking forward to their ‘The Simpsons’ crossover episode? Do you hope the show finds a new home for another season or ten? Share your thoughts below!
