Director James Gunn doesn’t like to pull any punches, so I really have to say I love his caption for the first official Ronan the Accuser image that he’s released. While Thanos might be the man pulling the strings, Ronan the Accuser will be the main villain in the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘ film. This image was previously seen as a magazine scan but Gunn wanted to tweet it with a slightly higher resolution for us to enjoy. Honestly the best part isn’t the image itself,  it’s his commentary.

Let’s take a quick look!

So yes Ronan the Accuser might actually be one of the biggest dicks in the Marvel Universe (and possibly the biggest in the cinematic universe) though at the very least he doesn’t feel that way about the actor portraying him. On Facebook he made sure to spell out that “Lee Pace might be the nicest actor I’ve ever met. which makes it stranger that he’s playing the biggest dick ever in a ‪Marvel‬ movie.”

You can check out a larger shot of the image below. It is a little less action filled than the one we shared with you the other day but it is a lot more detailed!

In the film, the Guardians are after an orb of power (which will most likely end up being one of the infinity gems) which Ronan is also hunting after and that sets him up against the team that we’ll be following.

For those of you unfamiliar with the character in the comics, Ronan is a member of the alien race known as The Kree and will do anything to help provide for the advancement of his species. While he is working for Thanos in the film, he is usually opposed to the Mad Titan in the standard universe and follows the law laid down by the Supreme Intelligence (even though he has tried numerous times to overthrow the Supreme Intelligence and take over leadership himself). However, in the Ultimate Universe we see that he ends up being Thanos’ son which could be closer to how things play out on screen as the films have been following those storylines over anything in the standard universe. Alternately another version of him pops up later that leads the Kree against the Chitauri and as those are who serve Thanos in the movies we could see the two end up at odds with one another.

So what do you think of how Ronan will look in the film? Sound off in the comments below!
