If you’ve been enjoying Netflix’s take on werewolves, you are probably eagerly awaiting for July 11th to roll around in order to make another trip to ‘Hemlock Grove.’ Thankfully you don’t have to wait any longer for a trailer for the second season! While the first season did well, I’m pretty sure we are going to see an increase in the action and drama as Charles “Chic” Eglee (‘Dexter‘, ‘The Walking Dead‘) is taking over as the showrunner on the series. The early previews seem to indicate we are going to be getting a stranger, gorier, and more action filled style that seems to fit with his previous work. That seems to be a perfect fit for a series by Eli Roth if you ask me.

While the series didn’t have the numbers that either ‘House of Cards’ or ‘Orange is the New Black’ had, it clearly had enough of a draw for a second season. Hopefully the slight change in direction should raise the numbers to guarantee a third as well.

Slightly spoilerific – the second season “picks up with the residents of Hemlock Grove coming to grips with the shocking massacre inflicted by one of its deadliest creatures. Roman and Peter are now faced with new responsibilities and the realities that come with adulthood. Roman’s relationship with his mother (Famke Janssen) is all but dead as he struggles with his unwanted Upir birthright and the disappearance of his sister, Shelley (Madeleine Martin). Peter moves in with Destiny (Horn) and is forced to get a job after his mother is sent away. Meanwhile, in search of a new life, newcomer Miranda Cates (Brewer) embarks on Hemlock Grove with an unknowingly profound effect on Peter and Roman. And Norman (Dougray Scott), still reeling from the loss of his family, must face the harsh truths that are uncovered about those he still loves.”

If you are caught up, the massacre is no surprise but for those just stepping in you do have a slew of death to deal with in the near future.

Looking good! According to Roth, “Netflix has been an incredible partner, and whenever we wanted to take the story in a dangerous direction, they encouraged us to go even further — into a scarier, darker, and sexier place. We guarantee you won’t see anything like this anywhere else on television.”

It sounds like we are entering more into the style that he is known for which could be a very good thing or too far over the top depending on your tastes.
