We already knew that ‘Heroes’ was returning as ‘Heroes Reborn‘ in a 13-episode stand-alone story arc in 2015 and now we have a vague synopsis that gives a few of the ideas of the show for you. Honestly, they really haven’t told us anything in it aside that we’ll be introduced to new characters.

However, at  NBC’s upfronts entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt revealed this little teaser:  “Some familiar faces from the show are bound to drop in”! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we’re going to be seeing the return of some characters! As it is unclear on the direction of the show, we don’t know if they’ll be interacting with the main characters or will just show up in the background, but knowing they’ll be there is pretty awesome.

We were also given an updated synopsis of the series which you can read below:

The saga behind the 2006 breakout series Heroes will continue as creator Tim Kring returns to the fold and develops new layers to his original superhero concept. This highly anticipated 13-episode miniseries will reconnect with the basic elements of the show’s first season where ordinary people were waking up to the fact that they had extraordinary abilities. This series will be preceded by a new digital series that will introduce audiences to the new characters and story lines that will take the Heroes phenomenon to new places.

So what does that mean? Well it sounds like we’re getting a retelling of the first season with new characters. Possibly they are in outlying events related to what happens. Possibly they see what is happening on the news or in some other way. It could be a refreshing take on the series and could breathe life into what was a smash hit for a single season. I say a single season because we all know what happened to the series after its first year as the show’s quality and ratings quickly went down the tubes. Hopefully series creator Tim Kring has learned from the mistakes of the first run and will give us a refreshingly fun and new tale that will have us all drawn back into the series once again.

What do you think about returning to the world of ‘Heroes’? Is NBC making the right decision bringing the show back or are they really just bilking our nostalgia of a few years ago for all its worth? Which characters do you think they’ll be bringing back? Share your thoughts below!
