A few weeks ago, ‘Supernatural’ aired one of its… *sigh* less than stellar episodes, entitled ‘Bloodlines’.  This episode was intended to be a backdoor pilot for a spin-off show, also called ‘Bloodlines’ which would focus on monster hunters in Chicago.  Unfortunately, The CW was less-than-pleased with the resulting episode… as were many viewers, so they passed on this series… but considering that ‘Supernatural’, now in its ninth season, is one of the network’s signature shows, it’s not surprising that they are looking to sneak another backdoor pilot into the show’s tenth (and possibly final) season.

‘Bloodlines’ (otherwise known as ‘Tribes’) would have been a more urban series than ‘Supernatural’ which sticks to the ‘back roads’.  It would have focused on mafia-like monster families battling it out in the Windy City.  Unfortunately, the “pilot” reeked of melodrama and squeezed the series’ stars Sam and Dean (Jared Padelecki and Jensen Ackles) into the periphery.

With ‘Supernatural’ possibly ending next year, it makes sense that The CW would try to spin another new series off from the long-running hit.  (Um, hello ‘Charlie Bradbury: The Series’?!  No-brainer!)  Unfortunately, ‘Bloodlines’ will most likely go down the same road as that episode of ‘The Brady Bunch’ that was all about their neighbors adopting three multi-ethnic sons– a screeching excursion from the regular series.

What do you think?  Would you like to see a spin-off from ‘Supernatural’?  And what would you like it to be about?
