‘Star Wars’ is building up quite a momentum with J.J. Abrams highly anticipated new movie on the horizon as well as this new animated series ‘Star Wars Rebels‘ set to debut in a few months on Disney XD.  The animated series is set between the prequel movies and ‘Episode IV: A New Hope’ and will depict the formation of the Rebel Alliance, which appears to start out as punk rock-like graffiti artists seeking to turn over the iron booted regime of the Empire.

An while this show does focus on new characters that fans aren’t familiar with, don’t think they’ll completely omit established characters. According to Jedi News, a familiar person will be seen again in the universe:

Okay, I agree this is a very tiny and crap image, but yes Obi-Wan Kenobi factors into this series in some capacity. How big of a presence is unknown, but maybe this show will explain how Obi-Wan went from Jedi Master to hermit living in a cave on Tatooine.

Here is the official plot synopsis of the show:

“Star Wars Rebels” continues the epic tradition of the legendary Star Wars saga with all-new exciting, action-packed adventures.   It is a dark time in the galaxy, as the evil Galactic Empire tightens its grip of power from world to world.  As the series begins, Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet, ruling with an iron fist and ruining the lives of its people.  The clever and motley crew of the starship Ghost is amongst a select few who are brave enough to stand against the Empire. Together, this ragtag group will face threatening new villains, encounter colorful adversaries, embark on thrilling adventures and become heroes with the power to ignite a rebellion.”

Some have observed that this appears more juvenile than ‘Clone Wars‘.  What do you think?  Will you be checking this show out?
