Just when you thought it was safe to stop remembering there was ever a craze for sparkling wannabe vampires, the star of the upcoming film ‘Divergent’ does quite the job at bashing the series. Shailene Woodley (‘The Descendants’, ‘The Spectacular Now’) is set to be the next big name in the young adult world when ‘Divergent‘ takes the world by storm on March 21st. As she is starring in an upcoming young adult franchise, its clear she isn’t against the genre at all, she just has a thing or two to say about a certain set of films.

So what does Woodley think about ‘Twilight’?

“‘Twilight’, I’m sorry, is about a very unhealthy, toxic relationship. She falls in love with this guy and the second he leaves her, her life is over and she’s going to kill herself! What message are we sending to young people? That is not going to help this world evolve.”

This is not a new take on the four films that propelled the young adult phenomenon to a smashing box office success, but rarely do we see actors in the same genre speak out so strongly against any part of it.

What do you think on her take on ‘Twilight’? Does her strong views against it encourage you that ‘Divergent’ won’t somehow end up being more of the same on screen? Share your thoughts below!
