With the main casting of the ‘Fantastic Four’ figured out, that only leaves one major player left to be announced, the villain. The hunt is on for the new take on Marvel’s First Family’s most classic villain and we’ve come to a short list of four potential names on who will be wearing the mask. Assuming there is a mask and that hasn’t been changed like so much has been rumored to be. At the very least this list disproves the rumor that Doom may have changed genders on us.
So who is on the shortlist for the role of such an iconic villain you might ask? Just like with the foursome themselves we’re getting some talented young actors who you may or may not know being up for the role. The final candidates are: Sam Riley (‘Maleficent‘, ‘Byzantium’), Eddie Redmayne (‘Les Misérables’, ‘Jupiter Ascending’), Toby Kebbell (‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes‘, ‘Wrath of the Titans’, ‘Warcraft‘) and Domhnall Gleeson (‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2′, ‘Dredd‘). It is an interesting mix of those who have worked in genre films. While there is a good chance we’ll see the character pre-scarring and armor as this is a new origin story that still leaves someone who needs to not only be able to have the voice but carry themselves in a manner that is truly fitting of a man who believes him superior to all and meant to rule the world.
All of these actors have shown that they’ve got the chops to do something amazing on screen but can they do it in a mask where their body and voice have to carry the performance? That we’ll have to wait and see. Which of these actors do you think could truly nail the role and which of their past performances have sold you on it? Share your thoughts below!
