Back in January, we learned that Thomas Kretchmann of NBC’s ‘Dracula’, ‘King Kong’, and ‘Stalingrad’ would be filling the role of Baron Wolfgang Von Strucker in ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’. The monocle-wearing former Nazi and prominent HYDRA member is said to only have a small role in Joss Whedon’s sequel, but reports indicated that he would be appearing in additional projects within the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well. Now, we get confirmation from the actor himself that he is meant to pop up elsewhere somewhere down the line.

With James Spader playing the titular villain of the follow up to ‘The Avengers’, Kretchmann’s Von Strucker is meant to only act as the initial threat that brings the team together in the first act. With such a small part for a fairly regular Marvel villain, one has to think that we’ll see the character again. Well, in a recent interview with B.Z. Berlin, the German actor shares that something like that could be in the works since he has signed on for multiple appearances:

“I have a multi-picture deal which means I will not only appear in [‘Age of Ultron’], but they’re planning with me for a longer period of time. I don’t know details yet, they’re keeping their cards close to their chest — top secret!”

As I speculated when he was first cast, it’s possible that Von Strucker could appear in ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’, possibly in a post-credits scene in order to tie it to the final film of Marvel’s Phase Two. After all, the Baron has been known to tango with the Sentinel of Liberty and Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Nick Fury in the comic books, so it wouldn’t be too out of the ordinary to see him in Steve Rogers’ next cinematic outing later this year.

Where else do you think Thomas Kretchmann’s Baron Wolfgang Von Strucker will pop up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe besides ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’? Do you think an appearance in ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ is a safe bet? Or do you feel as though they’ll wait until ‘Captain America 3’?
