In what is some of the most unexpected but great news out there, it looks as if Justin Monjo (‘Bait’, ‘Cement’) is writing a screenplay for a new ‘Farscape’ movie!

If you recall, ‘Farscape’ premiered in 1999 on the Sci-Fi channel (yes, before the hideous rebranding to Syfy) and was supposed to run for five seasons. Unfortunately, it only survived for four but the series was able to film a finale in the form of a three hour miniseries titled ‘Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars’. This project will take place after that finale in a “passing of the torch” type of premise.

Monjo was responsible for several of the episodes on the original series and it’s rumored that this film will revolve around the now 19 year old son of John Crichton (Ben Browder) and peacekeeper Aeryn Sun (Claudia Black). Their child has been in hiding on Earth and has just rejoined his parents as they explore the special powers he’s developed as well as avoid the creatures who had found him on Earth.

This isn’t the first time the show has been rumoured for a return. Back in 2007 a webseries was reportedly in the works but never went beyond that. Hopefully this is one bit of news that will actually materialize!
