While we’ve already seen a brief video of Vin Disel (‘Riddick‘, ‘Fast & Furious 6’) walking around practicing for his motion capture session to be Groot, we now have a great close up of what his new legs look like! Well, what the prosthetic that he has on his legs look like that is before it’s turned into motion capture’s CGI.

While not everyone is a fan of his work, Diesel clearly not only enjoys working with science fiction but knows exactly what the fans want to see! This is the kind of early behind the scenes stuff that special effects fans love! The stilts on Diesel raise his height to tower his co-stars as well as give him a unique way to walk. They strap in above his knees and run all the way down to his toes. Diesel also has a set of protective gear for his arms which I’m sure are there in case of a fall.

While the first trailer for ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ had a heavy focus on Star-Lord we did see a bit of Groot as well! We still haven’t heard Diesel’s various was of him saying “I Am Groot!” though and I’m looking forward to the various inflections that they use with it.

From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team — the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits — Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand — with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.
