While word recently got out about ‘Captain America 3’ moving forward with Anthony & Joe Russo in the directors’ chairs, there have been some new developments on the film that got studio brass interested in bringing the pair back in the first place, ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’. With the promotional campaign really pumping up thanks to a $4 million ad during this Sunday’s Superbowl, Marvel Studios has already begun to push their next feature starring the Star-Spangled Avenger coming later this year. But before that spot debuts in front of world, some new pictures and posters were released.

While they’ve been shelling out first looks at ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ lately courtesy of the 25 variant covers of their latest issue, Empire has also recently released three new character posters featuring Captain America, Nick Fury, and the Black Widow as they appear in the upcoming Phase Two film. Additionally, when Marvel.com released the teaser for their Superbowl spot, they also released the one-sheet poster for the film featuring The Winter Soldier and Robert Redford as Alexander Pierce. You can check out all four in the gallery below:

Then, thanks to Collider, we have five new images from the set that show stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, and what appears to be the first look at Georges St-Pierre as Batroc the Leaper as they chat with their directors. You can see all of those below:

Even though he’s not exactly an A-list villain, I’m a little excited to see Batroc onscreen. If that is him, it looks like they’ve stuck to his signature colors, but no headgear for this version. You win some and you lose some I guess. We also get to see another shield wielded by Cap in the same picture. It’s a weird thing to see him without his regular weapon adorned with the stars and stripes, but they have to sell toys and other merchandise somehow, so that means costume and weapon variations. That’s the way the cookie crumbles.

What do you think of these new posters and images for ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’? Are you more excited for the film to come out later this year? And will you be tuning in to the big game to check out the brand new spot for Marvel’s next offering? Let us know in the comment section.

‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ starring Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, and Emily VanCamp hits theaters on April 4, 2014.
