Back in December of 2012, after the success of Tim Burton’s ‘Alice In Wonderland’ that drew in over $1 billion worldwide, Disney brought on Linda Woolverton to pen a sequel to the semi-sequel to their 1951 animated classic. For a while, things were quiet when it came to another trip down the rabbit hole, but now it appears that there’s some movement on the project because a new actor’s name is currently being connected to the film. And if things go Disney’s way, we might have a ‘Sweeney Todd’ reunion on our hands.

Sacha Baron Cohen is in early talks to join the former Demon Barber of Fleet Street Johnny Depp and Mia Wasikoska in the sequel that is now being called ‘Through The Looking Glass’. Details about the plot are being kept heavily under wraps at the moment, but we do know that the ‘Les Miserables’ star is set to be the villain and ‘The Muppets’ director James Bobin will helm the film that should shoot at some point this summer.

Much like the first live action film from the House of Mouse based on the popular Lewis Carroll tale, chances are that ‘Through The Looking Glass’ won’t follow the original story, so it’s hard to even predict who Cohen could be playing in the film. We probably won’t know until he’s officially added to the cast, but maybe he could be playing the White King or the King of Hearts. Humpty Dumpty is also a prominent character in the Carroll story that could be brought to life by the ‘Borat’ star and turned into the primary antagonist. At this point, the possibilities are pretty endless.
