The typically reliable Latino Review has reported another scoop! This could turn out to be a RUMOR, or maybe not, so SPOILER ALERT for ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’!
James Spader’s ‘Ultron‘ will have some company and he’ll probably need it as he will be taking on, not only the six original Avengers and their S.H.I.E.L.D. allies, but Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch and Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Quicksilver.
According to Latino Review, “there is a breakdown circulating in Hollywood where Marvel is looking for a PHYSICALLY IMPOSING MAN, age range 40-50, Caucasian, for a supporting role.”
And the site is reporting that the role is…
…Baron Wolfgang Von Strucker, a Nazi leader and prominent member of Hydra. So far, S.H.I.E.L.D.’s evil counter-agency hasn’t been referenced, so this may be the chance to integrate the evil organization into the MCU.
In the comics, Baron von Strucker was genetically modified to make him super humanly powerful and nearly immortal. (Could this possibly tie into The Winter Soldier?) He’s one of those villains who has seemingly been killed repeatedly, only to return with another plan for world conquest. He wields the Satan Claw. “This metal gauntlet amplifies its strength and emits powerful electrical shocks. It has also been used to contain knives, plasma blasters, chain guns and teleportation technology.” So it grants him the power to pull whatever he needs out of his ass, whenever he needs it. Kinda like Mary Poppins’ bag.
It’s also rumored by Hitflix that the Baron will be the initial threat seen at the beginning of ‘Age of Ultron’ but he won’t be a prominent villain. He will be the one responsible for bringing Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch into contact with the Avengers at the start of the film and audiences will be questioning whether the two are on the side of good or evil and if they are working with the Baron or against.
Not only do we get the news that Baron von Strucker will be included in some capacity in the film, but we may have a clue as to who might play him? The two possibilities?
