With the first official ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes‘ trailer dropping this week, Fox is amping up the excitement with a teaser of what we can expect from the trailer. I wouldn’t get your hopes up on seeing much of anything new until the actual trailer is released and you can see why that is below:

Synopsis:

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

While I, against my will, quite enjoyed the ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes‘, I have to say this teaser is really doing nothing for me. It’s someone, we’re not quite sure who, yelling that they need to talk to Caesar. Is it a talking ape? Is it a human trying to broker peace? A human out for revenge? With all text and no visual cues it’s a bit vague and not quite as enticing as I’m sure the full trailer will be. While the teasert does raise questions, none of them are making me want to actually watch the trailer to find the answers. Not that I’ll hold that against the movie. I’ve got high hopes for it after the first one actually shocked me with how much I had enjoyed it.

So did this teaser grab your attention or should the marketing guys be putting a little more effort into other things? Either way, are you looking forward to a sequel to the first film?

‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ is slated to be released on July 11th, 2014.
