On August 22, 2014 we’re going to see ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’ released, which is one I’ll admit to be excited about. Until now, we’ve had no idea what would happen to the series, if anything, from there. Now it’s sounding like Bob Weinstein has a television series based off the property and it would be horror themed. Usually box office ratings dictate anything going forward when it comes to films, but on television it’s a completely different ballgame. With the ever increased popularity of shows like ‘The Walking Dead‘ and ‘American Horror Story‘, horror is clearly the way to go right now.
The first film was a pop culture goldmine. The sequel? Well with stars such as Joseph Gordon-Levitt (‘Looper‘, The Dark Knight Rises’) and Josh Brolin (‘Oldboy’, ‘Men in Black 3’) in the cast it’ll most likely be the same.
With this in mind, it looks like Bob Weinstein is planning on betting big on horror themed television shows through his horror and action Dimension brand. Currently he’s preparing a pilot for a ‘Scream’ version for television for MTV and is also in the middle of developing a 10-part series with Frank Darabont (‘Godzilla‘) based off of Stephen King’s ‘The Mist’ (Darabont had previously done the quite stellar 20XX film adaptation.) So next up? It seems like we’re also going to see a ‘Sin City’ series.
He’s hoping that it will follow the August release of the film which is to be directed by Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez and that they will be in charge of the television show as well.
So what are your thoughts on a ‘Sin City’ themed television series? Would you be up for watching it? Do you think they can pull off the look and feel from the films into an ongoing television series? Think any of the stars from the movies be showing up even as cameos? Share your thoughts below!
