Christopher Meloni and Josh Brolin

Earlier this week, Joseph Gordon-Levitt joined the cast of Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller’s ‘Sin City: A Dame To Kill For’ and now two more actors have joined the ensemble as well to join returning stars such as Jessica Alba, Mickey Rourke, and Rosario Dawson.

According to Deadline, Chris Meloni of ‘Law & Order: SVU’, ‘NYPD Blue’, and ‘Oz’ will be joining the cast as a disreputable cop. Probably not much of a stretch for the actor, but he certainly brings some additional tough guy attitude to the cast.

The second actor to join the cast fills the role previously played by Clive Owen. According to Collider, Josh Brolin has been tapped to play the role of Dwight. At first, it seems odd that the star of ‘Gangster Squad’ is stepping in for Owen, but the press release addresses that matter, as well as what’s in store for Dwight in this follow up to the 2005 film:

Dwight is hunted down by the only woman he ever loved, Ava Lord, and then watches his life go straight to hell.  Chronologically, this story takes place prior to “The Big Fat Kill” (featured in the film ‘FRANK MILLER’S SIN CITY’) and explains how Dwight came to have a dramatically different face.

After playing a younger Tommy Lee Jones in ‘Men In Black III’ last year, it’ll be interesting to see the Academy Award nominee play a young Clive Owen in this new film.

While the rest of the cast is shaping up, the title role of the Dame has yet to be determined. Since production is in the beginning stages, I expect that news to drop any day now.

‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’ is scheduled for an October 4, 2013 release.
