Earlier in the week, a quote from the ‘Evil Dead‘ director Fede Alvarez made the rounds claiming that he was no longer attached to ‘Evil Dead 2’. These rumors have proven to be from a quote that was apparently “lost in translation” during the interview it was taken from.

The original quote that was making the rounds read as:

“Look, I am sorry to tell you this but that movie won’t happen. Evil Dead 2 is not going to happen, at least not with us involved. We left that project many months ago because we preferred to put our energies on other things. I don’t know if the producers still have intentions of making it. But what I can tell you is that we are not part of that project.”

Fans of the new take on the series were crestfallen but fortunately that all changed yesterday when Alvarez took to Twitter to explain tweeting  “Don’t believe everything you read online…” and further went into detail by directly telling Bloody-Disgusting that “Rodo meant we’re not actually making ‘Evil Dead 2′ right now because the priority is Sam’s ‘Army of Darkness 2.’”

So that lends even more weight to both Bruce Campbell and Fede Alvarez‘s earlier comments about ‘Army of Darkness 2’ moving forward. That also leads into the crossover theory between the new and old versions of ‘Evil Dead’ as it seems as though the new one is waiting on ‘Army of Darkness 2’.

Reading the original quote, it seems a huge loss in translation indeed to go from one statement to the other. That being said, knowing that the plan is to move forward, I’m too excited to care how that big of a mistake got made – we’re getting more Mia taking out Deadites! Also, if the rumors prove to be true, we’ll have her teamed up with Ash in another 3 movies to boot! Personally I can’t wait to see what happens when Mia has to deal with the chosen one and everything that will entail. I have a feeling she isn’t the type to fall for his specific kind of charm.

Personally, I think the idea is sound and am glad to hear that the new re-imaging of ‘Evil Dead’ will soon continue.

What is your take? Excited for a world where both Ash and Mia can come together to fight the Deadites? Sound off below!
