Grab your chainsaws and broomsticks ladies and gentlemen – Ash is back! Well that’s the latest word from Bruce Campbell (‘Burn Notice’, ‘Army of Darkness’) on the subject, at least on the movie sequel that fans have wanted for years. I’m not sure I would absolutely hold my breath on this one, as Sam Raimi (‘Oz the Great and Powerful ‘) has previously gone on record saying ‘Army of Darkness 2‘ would maybe get made:

“I love working with Bruce Campbell and Rob Tapert, I have so much fun making those movies, so… but the fans are really forcing me into it.”

That didn’t sound very enthusiastic. On top of that, Campbell himself has previously said “there’s nothing” when talking about a story being pushed forward.

So why the change of heart now? That’s a good question since Raimi is knee deep working on his remake of ‘The Poltergeist‘ and a sequel for ‘Evil Dead‘ which is currently in development. My only guess for a change is that with ‘Burn Notice’ ending, we suddenly see Campbell with some free time. A sequel to ‘Army of Darkness’ is clearly a fan favorite to get Campbell back on the big screen.

When he was recently asked about a sequel everyone’s favorite chin responded with:

“The last one was 22 years ago. I just haven’t been racing to do it. Sam Raimi is just a little bit busy making the biggest movies in Hollywood. I use to be busy. Now I’m not. That’s why I’m here. . . Ash would have to stop occasionally from chasing some deadite to catch his breath. Maybe we could do that, I guess. That would be exciting. Fight in a walker. That would be alright. Hit them with my cane. Fake them out, have a fake heart attack, distract a zombie. I like it. . . Alright sir, the answer is yes.”

While I have a feeling he was kidding on going the route of making him old and fighting monsters (as he’s already done that in ‘Bubba Ho-Tep’) this could be promising news for ‘Evil Dead’ fans. With him already having been in the closing credits of the recent ‘Evil Dead’ reboot, this news as well as rumors circulating that Ash and Mia from the new series would end up meeting up could be headed in the right direction.

Are you hoping Bruce is finally telling the truth on an ‘Army of Darkness’ sequel or is he just being Bruce and rambling away to get a reaction? Are you looking forward to a sequel that could lead into Ash and Mia meeting? Sound off below with your thoughts!
