I’ve made no bones about it in any of ‘The X-Files’ articles I’ve ever written (which is a surprising many, actually); I like the show best when it’s about alien conspiracy and shapeshifters. Thus, opening issue 5 was like a little supernatural Christmas come early, because we get both aplenty.

So, if you’ll remember back to last issue, we had this small matter of Scully shooting Mulder because of shapeshifter nonsense.

This issue, we get that resolved. No worries, Mulder is healed by the acolytes, but is the women he’s with really Scully? Ba BA BUUUUM!

The short answer is no. The long answer is… I have no idea what is going on… but I mean that in the most loving way possible.

It seems that the whole purpose of the last five issues was to get Scully to Yellowstone National Park to witness the rising of a UFO and then to promptly forget it. For you Philes, I’m sure you’re thinking that this is exactly what you’ve been wanting since ‘The X-Files’ went off the air, and I’m not going to disagree.

I’d love to explain things more, but I’m pretty lost with it all. I know the Acolytes want William, that they wanted Scully to see a UFO, and that Mulder and Scully find that they have rejoin the FBI again in order to start investigating the strange goings on of Season 10. These are all things I’m totally cool with, so I can’t wait to see what it’s going to be all about.

There was, however, one part that I was not okay with being confused at about. In typical X-Files fashion, the scene ended with The Cigarette Smoking Man (who is suddenly not dead), a man in glasses who I’m’ worried they are insinuating is Skinner, and a zombie like creature that looks too much like The Cigarette Smoking man for comfort. In short, I don’t know who these people are, or if I’m supposed to recognize them, and I’m significantly worried that I’m missing something important.

Still, all in all, it was a good read, and it is getting back to the alien conspiracy roots I love so much.
