Fans of fantasy movies and/or Blizzard’s infamous MMORPG ‘World of Warcraft’ are going to be happy as the movie is starting casting! We’ve known since January that Duncan Jones (‘Source Code’) was signed on for the director. We also knew that at this year’s Comic-Con that the ‘World of Warcraft’ was officially announced and moving forward. That’s right, the movie isn’t going to be stuck in development hell after all. More proof of this came with the announcement that casting has begun!

So who is up for parts right now? Well it looks as if Paula Patton (‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol ‘) is already in negotiations for one of the leads and it’s looking positive. The second major casting choice right now is that a male lead was offered to Colin Farrell (‘Total Recall‘), who’s less sure on how he stands on taking the part. They are going to have to line up their stars in the next few months as production is supposed to begin in January with a script by Charles Leavitt (‘Seventh Son‘).

There is still no official synopsis for the film, but the initial teaser shown at Comic Con did include a knight and an orc. It sounds like we’re going to be getting a Horde vs. Alliance type of a setting as was the classic story throughout the ‘Warcraft’ franchise so far. I just wonder if we’re going to be following through on one side or if they are going to come up with a creative joint alliance between a member of each of the opposing sides.
