Teen idol/hot mess Justin Bieber caused quite an uproar when he Instagrammed a photo of himself with a copy of the ‘Batman Vs. Superman’ script, specifically stamped with his name on it, with the caption “#Robin??”  The script is clearly printed “Written by David S. Goyer and Zach Snyder.”  So is the “Boyfriend” singer actually going to transition to the “Boy Wonder?!”

And you thought Ben Affleck was a controversial choice?!

It’s worth noting that the script also states that it’s based on “The Dark Knight Rises by Frank Miller”, the last chapter of the classic miniseries ‘The Dark Knight Returns’ which showcased the legendary battle between the crusty, angry Batman and the brainwashed, Republican-manipulated Superman.  Batman won (it is his story, after all)… by cheating and using Kryptonite. The role of Robin was previously played by Chris O’Donnell in ‘Batman Forever‘ and the universally reviled ‘Batman & Robin’.

So will the pop superstar make a suitable sidekick to Ben Affleck’s Batman? Well… no.

Sorry, Batliebers!  (I’m trademarking that.) Shortly before he posted the photo with the script, Bieber tweeted that he was “Off to do something funny… or die,” indicating that this is all probably part of a comedy video for the popular website. At any rate, Bieber’s “prank” resulted in a flurry of reactions, from outrage from comic fans to loving support from his loyal pop fans.

Honestly, the ‘Batman Vs. Superman’ cast seems to be getting quite bloated as it stands, so no Robin is no skin off my nose.  Robin is a tricky character to make work anyway, seeing as the concept of teen sidekicks has become outdated and… let’s be honest, just a tad icky in modern times.  Plus, we already know Justin hates wearing… well, clothes, but especially shirts and his pants are always around his thighs.  The classic Robin doesn’t even wear pants, so what does that leave?  Green scaly briefs?  I’m sure some Beliebers would love that sight, but… eww.  (Plus, thanks to TMZ, we’ve already seen what’s under them anyway.)

So are you relieved that the “Baby” singer will only be playing Robin in a Funny or Die video?  Or would you like to see him in the actual movie?  Will he live up to Eminem’s performance in “The Real Slim Shady” video?  Feel free to comment below!
