Earlier this summer, we learned that BBC staple Mark Gatiss would be joining the cast of ‘Game of Thrones’ for the fourth season. The British writer/producer/actor known for his work on ‘Doctor Who’ and ‘Sherlock’ was one of many to make the trip to Westeros for the new season for the acclaimed HBO fantasy drama, but his role was being kept heavily under wraps when the announcement was made. However, now we have an idea where he’ll fit in around the Seven Kingdoms.
According to Winter Is Coming, Gatiss will play banker Tycho Nestoris, a representative of the Iron Bank of Braavos. Many throughout the land know this man well because he is known for always getting paid back. And if he doesn’t, he’s notorious for backing the enemies of the people who don’t repay their loans.
If you recall, during the third season, Tyrion Lannister tries to say that the crown is heavily in debt to the Iron Bank. Chances are that Nestoris will probably be coming to collect next season from the house that always repays their debts.
Considering his work in other projects, Gatiss is an incredible actor and should knock this role out of the park. But what do you think about this casting? Are you in favor of the actor playing Tycho Nestoris in ‘Game of Thrones’? Share your thoughts in the comment section.
‘Game of Thrones’ returns to HBO in spring of 2014.
