Famous for portraying Karl Agathon on ‘Battletstar Galactica’, as well as FBI agent Paul Ballard on Joss Whedon’s ‘Dollhouse,’ fan favorite Tahmoh Penikett has signed on to appear as Ezekiel, a fallen angel on ‘Supernatural.’  Penikett will make his debut on the first episode of the program’s ninth season, which debuts on October 8th.  Executive producer Jeremy Carver describes the role as “a dignified warrior injured in the Fall,” in reference to the season eight climax which depicted all of the angels falling from heaven.

Carver went on to say “We’re going to learn pretty quickly that a world full of fallen angels is pretty much a free-for-all. We’re going to see it’s not one unified body. We’ve got lots of angels out there with lots of different agendas. Many are feelings lost and vengeful. A world of fallen angels is a dirty, bloody, scary and, in some ways, a very human world.”

This especially impacts Castiel (played by Misha Collins), the series regular angel, who suddenly finds himself completely mortal.  Jensen Ackles, who plays Dean, explains, “Castiel has been such a valuable tool to Dean over the past few years and I don’t know if he’s going to have him come clean his room; I don’t know what’s going to happen.”

Penikett, who has also appeared on ‘Castle’, ‘The Killing’ and ‘Continuum‘ as well as ‘Man of Steel’, is not the first BSG actor to appear on the CW series.  Tricia Helfer, Ty Olsson, Rick Worthy, Samantha Ferris and Michael Hogan have also appeared on the show.  No word yet as to whether Penikett will share any scenes with Mark Sheppard, who plays bad guy Crowley, and who also starred on ‘BSG’ and ‘Dollhouse.’
