It looks like Captain America is going to be going through quite a few trials in ‘The Winter Soldier’ and the latest teaser poster for the film (which can be seen below) can be taken a few ways.

On April 4th of 2014, we’re going to see Captain America (Chris Evans) face off against The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), though until then anyone unfamiliar with who The Winter Soldier is will be trying to avoid spoilers like there is no tomorrow.

Don’t worry this post will be spoiler free on any specifics from here on out.

So onto the few ways that this can be taken. For starters, it’s going to be showing that Cap has a lot of battle that he’s going to have to go through in this one. The kind of battle that is going to wear down the paint that reflects the stars and stripes on his shield. It’s going to be a rough ride for Cap and he’s clearly going to have quite a bit of hand to hand combat from the look of things.

Those familiar with the story line of ‘The Winter Soldier’ in comics knows that this removal of paint is going to be symbolic as well. Steve Rogers has seen a lot of changes from his time as the great American hero. The country is different. The people in it are different. How does he bridge the gap from the time he knew to the time that he has woken up in? This is going to not only be a physical trial but also a mental one that questions his faith and beliefs in the country he loves and the history that he knows.

What happens when people from his past surface and make him question even more? This film, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, has some calling it the best film Marvel will be putting out to date.

Even with Iron Man’s popularity, this is one of the most important stories told that has defined Captain America to date in the comics. Will it pull off the same reaction on the big screen? I think it has a chance, though, it might be hard to have the serious tone of the film topple the behemoth that ‘The Avengers‘ is. What do you think?
